A Fairer Deal For Asbestos Sufferers

Victorian workers who develop the asbestos related diseases of mesothelioma or certain types of cancers will be able to seek fair compensation under new laws to be introduced later this year.

The Premier, John Brumby, said the new laws would give Victorians who have contracted and been compensated for asbestosis the right to seek further compensation if they develop mesothelioma and asbestos-related cancers, with compensation payments to match the severe impact of those conditions.

Cambridge Better Workplace Awards

Amid emotional scenes, Chadoak Plumbing and Drainage was awarded the Cambridge 'Innovation in Return to Work' award on 1 November 2007. Chadoak's young apprentice had injured his back, which required surgery, in the last year of his apprenticeship. In an emotional speech, he thanked Chadoak for the help and support he had received in successfully returning him to work.
